Melbourne hosted the Australian Figure Skating Championships Synchronised Events last weekend from 25-27 November 2016.  The O’Brien Group Arena, home of the Olympic Winter Institute, was at maximum capacity with large crowds supporting all events. Teams from every State and New Zealand attended.

The weather was unpredictably cool and overcast for the Australian Summer and the performances inside the rink were exceptional. Opportunity to live stream and/or travel to international competitions and the influence of visiting international coaches has been beneficial to many teams. The Junior and Senior events highlighting improvement in technique and choreography.

Senior Division Champions Infusion from Perth, Western Australia will be representing Australia at the World Synchronised Skating Championships 2017 in Colorado, USA. Second placed Nova from North Brisbane, Queensland and Third placed Ice Storm from South Brisbane, Queensland have been nominated for International assignments however are yet to commit competitions.
