From this Friday, the Cup of Berlin will host 27 teams from all over the world. The local formation, Team Berlin 1, will try to keep their place in the Senior podium.
The Cup of Berlin is about to start in the German capital. Nearly thirty teams will skate during two days of competition.
On Friday afternoon, the 2 Mixed Age teams, New Horizons Mannheim and United Angels from Germany, will be the first to skate in front of the audience and the panel. Then, Basic Novices A and B, followed by the Advanced Novice, will compete.
From 7 PM (local time), the 9 Junior and the 8 Senior teams will present their short program in the Berliner ice rink. On Saturday, the free program will start at 3 PM (local time) until approximatively 6:30 PM (local time).
Senior participants include of course the German champion Team Berlin 1, which finished 12th at the last Worlds, but also 2 American teams: Crystallettes and Haydenettes (2016 World bronze medalist). Another highly anticipated of this Senior competition is the Finnish Marigold IceUnity. Team Spirit from Great Britain, the Swiss Cool Dreams Senior (17th at the last Worlds) and Team Olympia (16th last year at the Worlds) are also expected.
Junior division will bring together 9 teams this year:
3 teams from Finland: Ice Infinity, Valley Bay Synchro and Dream Edges
The French Jeanne D’Arc
The well-known team Skyliners Junior from the USA
The Italian Hot Shivers
The Team Darlings which represents the Czech Republic
The Cool Dreams Juniors from Switzerland
And of course the local Team Berlin Juniors
This weekend, two other important competitions will take place in the USA: the 33rd annual Colonial Classic (January 6-8, Lowell, Massachusetts) and the Foot the Lake Synchronized Skating Classic that will host approximately 85 synchronized skating teams on Saturday in Wisconsin.
