After an exciting weekend full of drama, the Finnish champions are finally settled. Dream Edges won the Junior division and Marigold Ice Unity is the champion in the Senior category. Together with MIU, Team Unique will represent Finland at the World Championships in April even if Helsinki Rockettes are 2018 national vice-champions.

The Junior Finnish champions 2018 are Dream Edges! The team continued their ongoing flow of strong performances and skated an almost perfect free program on Sunday. This is, in fact, the first time in 10 years a non-Helsinki team has won the Finnish championships. Dream Edges earned 105,24 points with their free program.

Musketeers came second with the result of 97,72 points in their program “Voodoo Dolls”. Team Mystique succeeded in climbing up to the medallist podium and earned 96,76 points.

Valley Bay Synchro was placed fourth in the competition with 90,58 points. Team Fintastic, who will represent Finland at the World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships, had two falls and placed fifth.

The competition in the Senior division was, as usual, a real nail-biter. Marigold Ice Unity skated a strong free program and combined with the clean performance in the short program, they brought home once again the title of Finnish champion with the score of 132,86 points.

Helsinki Rockettes had one fall and was placed second in the competition with the points of 129,68 in the free program. The result was still not good enough to beat Team Unique’s seasons best from French Cup, which means that the bronze medalists will represent the country as Team Finland 2 in Stockholm. This qualification system is new this season in Finland.

Team Unique performed an emotional and strong free program on Sunday and earned 131,28 points. Despite a bronze medal in the Finnish championships, the team was very satisfied at the end of the competition because the athletes come back this year at the World Synchronized Skating Championships. They will represent Finland in Stockholm later in the spring.

Lumineers was placed fourth in the competition with 109,16 points.
