They became World Champions this weekend... The skaters from Team Paradise came back to Russia with the gold medal. Team Russia 1 won the Worlds for the first time this weekend in Budapest. The team captain, Daria, tells us more about this victory. Interview.

Jura Synchro : You and your team became World Champions for the first time, how do you feel ?

Team Paradise’s captain : We are very proud of ourselves very proud of ourselves. We were hoping to be the World Champions all through the year, and we waited for this title so many years. Our dream finally became reality.

You’re now the 1st team in the world, what does it mean for you ?

This means that the world has finally admitted that we have no equals in this season. It’s a really good season for our team… and I hope that we will continue on this path for the next seasons.

When you saw the score Saturday evening in Budapest, what went through your mind ?

Yes… We've done it, I'm not sleeping or dreaming, this is real… We are the Champions !

According to you, what are the differences between you and the other teams during this weekend ?

Team Paradise’s captain : It's a hard question… I can't say that they want to win less than we do, or that they don't skate from their hearts. I rather think that all teams tried to show their best in these Worlds. But maybe we prepared a little bit better than the other. Thanks to our coaches !

What do you think about your amazing season ?

It was a really great season. We had 8 competitions and won 7 of them ! There were really amazing results and it meant that we were working in the right direction.

And what about now ? Will you give yourself a break ?

Yes, we now have a week to relax. Then we will be all fresh to start training again. We will have practice until the end of May. In June, we will have a one month break and July marks the beginning of the season 2016-2017.

As I said after our victory, I want to congratulate all the teams who participated at the World Championships, and especially the medalists. Special thanks also to the World Champions 2015, so Canada 2 (NEXXICE), who brought us flowers at the team party ! At this occasion, the organizers also offered us a special prize : a big bottle of champagne for our free program ! Thanks to them !
