Friday, March 8, was the first event of Synchronized skating competition in the Winter Universiade 2019, which are arranged in Krasnoyarsk, Russia. Four Senior teams are competing.

Only four teams are competing there: Marigold IceUnity and Team Unique from Finland, Tatarstan and Dream Team from Russia.

Marigold IceUnity started the competition with their emotional and well-balanced program “Why Not? which promotes synchro to become a member of Olympic sports family. Everything went right and without any visible errors. The panel scored their performance worth of 81.50 points. But this time it wasn´t enough, when Team Unique, skating second put their speed and energy on the ice. They had a strong attitude and they expressed their street dance “Muzik makes me…” without losing their control earning scores 85.49, which gave them the first position.

Dream Team stepped on the ice third. This team got the fourth position in the Russian Nationals. For some unknown reason in this competition, they had only twelve skaters and maybe it penalized their performance so much that despite great passion in “El Tango de Roxette” their program got only 39.23 points and fourth position.

Tatarstan skated last in this competition. They got huge support from their home audience and their “Ave Maria” was a heavenly light and skilful performance in light blue dresses. They got 82.23 points and ended up to the second place.

The free programs will take place on Saturday in Russia. This last competition is particularly important for the Finnish teams because they are trying to qualify for the 2019 Senior World Championships!
