The Neuchâtel Trophy competition, which was to be held from February 6 to 8, 2020 in Switzerland, is cancelled. The organizers announced the news yesterday evening to the participating teams.

The Organizing Committee decided this week to cancel the 2020 edition of the Tissot Neuchâtel Trophy.

"The ISU’s resolution (International Skating Union) to create Challenger competitions from this year has considerably reduced the participation rate to our competition. This edition being held at dates situated between two nominated Challenger competitions (French Cup - Rouen and Spring Cup - Milano), the World’s best teams have given priority to those events, aiming at gaining a maximum of points for the season," explained the organizers in the official communication.

"In spite of the interest many Novices and Mixed Aged teams had to attend this year’s competition, we have decided to maintain the line that has been followed until now, trying to stay an ISU Competition," added the Organizing Committee.

The Organizing Committee is "sincerely sorry to have to announce such bad news and truly hopes that it will not induce difficulties for the teams that had already enrolled themselves".

The objective for Neuchâtel will be to become a Challenger competition for the 2020-2021 season. "We wish all the teams a lovely season and we hope to welcome you (again) in Neuchâtel in 2021!", concluded the Organizing Committee.
