25th consecutive title for Team Berlin 1

The multiple-time German champions Team Berlin 1 started the new year by winning their 25th consecutive title and earned their spot for the 2020 World Championships in Lake Placid. 22 other Teams also fought for the top places at the German National Championship which was held in Berlin last weekend.

The senior division was dominated by Team Berlin 1, who showed a strong and fast short program to the theme “Hip Hop”. The Team received high levels for their elements and was rewarded with high grades of executions all over the board. Skating to “Aquaman” in the free program, Team Berlin defended their title successfully and won the competition with an overall of 173,41.

Team Skating Graces won the silver medal. After a powerful short program, skating to Linkin Park, the skaters were rewarded with two levels 4 and 58,12 points. On Sunday the skaters presented an original program to “Formula 1” but had some unfortunate falls. Their total competition score was 161,06.

United Angels competed for the 2nd time in the senior division. They performed an elegant short program to the song “Everybody wants to rule the world” and earned despite a small mistake in the No Hold Block 43,16 points. The Team showed an interesting and confident free program and earned the bronze medal with an overall score of 133,07 points.

In the Junior division, only Team Berlin Junior was participating. The team skated an energetic short program but had some difficulties in the Moves element and received 35,16 points. On Sunday the team skated to the Soundtrack of the animated movie “Corpse Bride”. Despite an unfortunate fall the team received a level 4 for their Spin element and had an overall score of 99,43 points. 
This year 3 Teams competed in the Advanced Novice category.

Team Berlin Novice showed a creative program to the Soundtrack “Dumbo” and won the event with 60,32 points. The Team Skating Graces won the silver medal with 55,72 points. A new German Advanced Novice Team Ice Starlets had a great debut and came in third with 40,37 points.

With 7 Teams competing, the Mixed Age category was very well represented. Team Saxony Ice Pearls defended their title by skating an original and entertaining program to the theme “Aerobic” and received 64,02 points. Team Butterfl’ice won the silver medal by skating a confident program to a 90’s medley and earned 57,67 points. The winner of the bronze medal was Team Munich Synergy with 49,96 points.

The Basic Novice division was dominated by Team Saxony Ice Pearls with a total score of 35,19 points. 

The Teams from Berlin won Gold in the categories Adult and Juvenile and the Team “die kleinen Eisteufel” won the Pre-Juvenile event.
