British teams presented their best skating in Nottingham

Nottingham’s National Ice Centre hosted last weekend the British Synchronized Skating Championships. Almost 60 teams from around the UK competed on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th January 2016. The event was organized by the National Ice Skating Association (NISA).

The first surprise came with the Senior category. Team Spirit, who was the 2015 British champion finished this year with the 3rd place (79,75 points). On the other hand, Team Zariba, who were 2nd last season, took this weekend the 1st place. Team Zariba from Aberdeen earned a total of 92,40 points. They will represent Great Britain in the next senior World Championships. Wight Jewels took in Nottingham the 2nd place (82,89 points) in a black costume.

As last year, Team Icicles was the only team to compete in the Junior’s field. This team from Nottingham has now a good notoriety in the UK. They were placed 14th at the last Junior World Challenge Cup. Team Icicles, in their colorful costumes, receive this weekend a new gold medal with the highest score of the competition: 117,44 points.

In the Advanced Novice competition, Shadows presented his free program. This Nottingham’s team was also the only one to compete. They earned a total of 42,68 points.

At the opposite, other categories gathered a lot of teams. Rocking Robins did the best in the Mixed Age’s field, Solway Stars is the winner in Junior B, Silhouettes won the gold medal in Juvenile, Icepops is the 2016 champion in Elementary, and Icetastic in Preliminary.

Basic Novice and Adult categories were also represented in Nottingham.
