No Junior Worlds in 2021!

The ISU Council decided to cancel the ISU World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships 2021, in Lyon, France, scheduled on March 12-13, 202 in view of the worsening worldwide Covid-19 pandemic situation and the consequent increasing risks for organizers and participants.

The ISU Council met on Thursday December 10 and decided to cancel the ISU World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships planned in Lyon (FRA) in March.

Synchronized skating is not the only skating discipline affected by the COVID situation. The ISU has also made several decisions for figure skating event by canceling the ISU European Figure Skating Championships 2021 that should have take place in Zagreb, CRO, on January 25-31, 2021. In addition, the ISU Grand Prix Final season 2020/21 which had already been postponed from its originally scheduled date of December 10-13, 2020 in Beijing, China, has now been definitely cancelled.

The ISU World Figure Skating Championships remain scheduled to be held in Stockholm, Sweden on March 22-28, 2021. The event is for the moment maintained but will depend on the evolution of the situation, indicates the ISU.

Nothing has yet been announced regarding the senior Synchronized Skating World Championships 2021.

Also note that another international competition has also been cancelled yesterday. The Tissot Neuchâtel Trophy 2021 cannot take place in Switzerland in mid-February. The organizers have already invited synchro teams in 2022.
