Sarah Vuoppola, the Swedish skater among the famous Helsinki Rockettes (part 1)

Sarah Vuoppola, 26, was born in Sweden, Gothenburg. Two and a half years ago, she decided to follow her heart and join the team of her dreams: Helsinki Rockettes. Apart from skating, she studies interior design and works in a theatre cafe in Helsinki. In this first part of the interview, discover her story and what pushed her to change her life!


“Synchro”, the Swedish film produced by a former athlete

Elin Bryngelsson Lidestedt is a former skater, now coach in Nacka near Stockholm, and media producer from Sweden. She published last year a long film about synchronized skating that has been broadcasted in her country. This documentary will be available this season also for a few skaters.

Finnish Marigold IceUnity defeats reigning two-time champion Russian Team Paradise and secures top spot of the podium on Saturday evening in the Ericsson Globe of Stockholm. Four teams take gold at the Swedish Nationals

The 2018 Swedish National Championships took place this past weekend in Mölndal, Gothenburg and four synchro teams came away with gold medals.

Team Spirit and Team Nova to represent Sweden at Junior Worlds

The second Swedish qualifiers took place this past Saturday and Sunday in Stockholm. Five junior teams were competing for the chance to represent Sweden at the Junior World Championships in Zagreb, Croatia in March. 

New programs, new teams in the Finlandia Trophy 2017

On Saturday, the annual figure skating competition Finlandia Trophy took place in Espoo, Finland. Six teams from three countries participated in the competition with their short programs. This year Rockettes won the competition, Team Paradise came second and Marigold Ice unity came third just behind.


Six synchro teams head to Espoo for the 2017 Finlandia Trophy

The highlight in international figure skating in Finland is getting closer, namely Finlandia Trophy! This is the 6th year synchronized skating teams are participating in the competition that will take place on October 7th in Espoo-Metro Arena. Six teams from three different countries will fight for the gold medal with their short programs.

Team Convivium and Team Surprise, 2017 Swedish national champions

Just like Finland, Canada and the United States, Sweden organized its national championships this weekend. It was an exceptional championship with no less than 18 teams and nearly 400 skaters who met in Borås on February 25 and 26. Rising figures that reflect a good development of the discipline in the country.

Ten countries, three medalists at the 2017 French Cup

Like a Saturday night fever. 13 Senior teams took part in the 2017 French Cup Free Event. For the competitors, the goal was to improved their rankings. Russia and Finland dominated the competition.

Team Paradise finished 1st after the short

French Cup 2017: Thirteen Senior teams skated their free program on Friday evening. The Russian Team Paradise did the best score with a total of 72.68 points. Two teams from Finland complete this provisional podium.
