The national championships in Finland ended on Sunday in Tampere. If Dream Edges, the new senior team, made its entry on the senior podium, the disappointment was total for Team Unique, which finished 4th and therefore did not qualify for the Worlds.

Team Unique in Seniors and Team Fintastic in Juniors are leading the competition after the first day. About 40 synchro teams competed this weekend in Helsinki, the Finnish capital. After a year of waiting due to the Covid pandemic, the competitive atmosphere was there, and the skaters were eager to skate in front of an audience again.

Team Unique and Team Mystique are leading Finland's first qualification competition in Helsinki

The entire ice rink rejoiced along with the skaters when this competition with 39 teams was finally allowed to take place on Saturday. One of the happiest was Mirjami Penttinen, the coach of Team Unique (HSK) and Team Mystique (HSK): “I have secretly hoped for the last 21 years that both my teams would be winners in the same competition. Now it came true”. Team Finettes (HTK) won the Novice competition on Saturday. The second group of Novices will skate on Sunday.
