A new competition cancellation

Considered as a highlight of the synchronized skating season, the Leon Lurje Trophy which was to be held at the end of the month in Sweden will not take place.

The Leon Lurje Trophy, a renowned international competition that was scheduled to take place from January 27 to 30, 2022 in Gothenburg, Sweden has been cancelled. The announcement, relayed by the ISU, was made Wednesday.  

The Organizing Committee explains in an official communication that is due to the increased spread of the disease and due to the tightened rules and restrictions that will start to apply already from Wednesday 12 January within the country.

The organizers explained they had hoped and planned to the very end to be able to hold a safe event based on the rules and restrictions of the authorities, but now with the new conditions they were faced with, it was for them "the only way out".

International teams had already been announced, such as two teams Nexxice and Gold Ice from Canada, Marigold IceUnity and Dream Edges Senior from Finland, DC Edge and Starlights from the USA, the Ice Fire teams from Poland, and of course many Swedish teams, including Team Inspire, the new ISU senior team.
