Junior Worlds 2025: Here are the participating teams (1/2)

The ISU World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships 2025 are happening this weekend, with teams from around the world ready to compete in Gothenburg, Sweden. From reigning champions to rising contenders, discover the teams taking part in this exciting competition—country by country.

Team Australia
Making their World Junior Championships debut, Southern Sky from Erina, Australia, is excited to compete at Worlds for the first time. Coached by Adele Leghorn, the team will present a country wedding dance-inspired short program and a free program depicting the death of a king, the rise of a princess, and her leadership in battle. Their goals include surpassing their personal best from the Australian Nationals and achieving higher levels in intersections and pivoting block elements.

Team Austria
Returning for their fourth appearance at the World Junior Championships, Colibris Vienna come from the Austrian capital, Vienna. Coached by Sabine and Susanna Konrath, the team placed 7th at the Lumière Cup this season. Their best Worlds result came in 2024 when they finished 16th. With experience on the international stage, they aim to build on past performances.

Teams Canada
Reigning World Junior Champions, Les Suprêmes from Saint-Léonard, Québec, return to defend their title. Coached by Marilyn Langlois, Pascal Denis, and Laurie Désilets, they were the only team to surpass 200 points and won gold in Neuchâtel last year. Their short program, Haunted Heart, sets a mysterious tone, while their free program, Wake Up World, transforms them into superheroes, conjuring magnetic storms to awaken humanity to urgent global change.

The second team from Canada is Nova Junior. Hailing from St-Hubert, the team has had a strong international season, winning gold at the Spring Cup in Italy and securing bronze at the French Cup. Coached by Nadine Tougas and Dominic Barthe, the team will present their short program to the song Dernière Danse, aiming to make their first Worlds appearance a memorable one.

Team Croatia
Coming from Zagreb, Zagreb Snowflakes return to the Junior Worldss under the guidance of coach Natasa Bahat. Their best result at this level was a 16th-place finish in 2020. This year, they will perform their short program to The Hanging Tree by Rebel Mix and their free program to The Man from U.N.C.L.E., bringing their style and determination to the ice.

Team Czech Republic
Based in Prague, Team Harmonia has been edging closer to the world’s top 10 in recent years, finishing 12th at the World Junior Championships in 2024 and 11th in both 2023 and 2020. Coached by Katerina Urbanova, Frantz-Michaal Rouffanche, and Jana Maresova, they recently placed 8th at the Hevelius Cup. Will 2025 be the year they finally secure a spot among the top 10 of the world’s best?

Teams Finland
Team Fintastic will be undoubtedly a strong contender for gold at the World Junior Championships. The Finnish team last claimed the title in 2023 in France, capping off a dominant season which they won everything. Now vice world champions after finishing second in 2024, they remain among the top teams. Victorious at the Mozart Cup and runners-up at the French Cup this season, they will perform their short program "Maasta Taivaaseen" and their free program "Dragon", aiming to reclaim their world title.

The second Finnish team in the competition, Valley Bay Synchro, is making its return to the World Junior Championships after an impressive debut last season, finishing 5th. Representing the city of Espoo, they are coached by Anna Karjalainen, Henriikka Latva, and Jenni Rahko. This year, they will perform their short program Baroque Ball and their free program Tuonelan Joutsen. With last year’s experience, they will be aiming to climb even higher in the rankings... why not go a world medal this year?

Team France
The 2025 French champions, Jeanne d'Arc, are ready to represent their country at the World Junior Championships. Based in Rouen and coached by Clara Levieux and Yoann Gillet, the team finished 18th last season. Fans are especially eager to see them skate their short program to the famous song Sweet Dreams by Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox. With their multiple national titles in hand, they will aim to make a strong impression on the world stage.

Team Great Britain
Recently crowned 2025 British champions, Team Icicles from Nottingham are set to stand out at the World Junior Championships. Coached by Esther Morris and Lauren Kelly, they will showcase a short program themed Life 3.0, exploring technology. Their free program on Tetris promises to be a showstopper, with creative choreography and eye-catching costumes. A performance not to be missed on Saturday!

Team Germany
With powerful programs this season, Team Berlin Junior will present Bad Side for their short program and Battle of the Sea for their free program. The German team, coached by Marco Derpa and Vanessa Henke-Hahn, finished 13th at the Junior Worlds last year. Their best result remains an 11th place in 2017, but with two top-10 finishes this season—10th at both the Mozart Cup and the Hevelius Cup—they could be on track for their best Worlds placement in years.

Team Hungary
For their fifth appearance at the Junior Worlds, Team Magic from Budapest will be looking to recapture the spark that led them to a 12th-place finish in 2020, their best result to date. Coached by Barbara Maros-Zenezini and Michael Zenezini, they will bring a touch of elegance and extravagance to the ice with a short program inspired by Sex and the City 2
