Synchro Challenger Series: "There will only be 4 stages this season"

Philippe Maitrot, Chair of the ISU Synchronized Skating Commission, reacts to the recent cancellation of the Asia Trophy 2019. The competition was the only Challenger Series event organized on the Asian continent. Interview.

How do you react to this cancellation?

Philippe Maitrot: Of course, I am very disappointed, but there are circumstances that we can not manage. It is important to keep our skaters safe.

What are the reasons for this cancellation? 

The confrontations in recent weeks in Hong Kong.

What's going to happen now? Will the Asian stage of the Challenger Series be replaced by another competition? 

There will only be four stages this season. The Asian event is postponed to next season.

Will there be repercussions on other international competitions? 

No, I do not think so.

Today, what do you want to say to the international synchro world? 

We have already achieved a lot this season with the creation of the Challenger Series for synchronized skating and a Prize Money that did not exist before. Asia is coming slowly. All things come to him who waits.
