This past weekend Advanced Novice, Junior, and Senior Italian teams confronted themselves in Trento Cup. It was an international Synchronized and Single skating competition valid to acquire the minimum technical element score (TES) and be able later to join other international competitions.

This year, the Italian Synchronized Skating Technical commission sets the following targets:

- Advanced Novices should reach a minimum of 17 TES during their free program;
Juniors should reach a minimum of 14 points for the short and 23 points in the free;
- Seniors should reach a minimum of 16 points in SP and 28 points in FP.

Even though not all the teams reached the goal, the programs presented for this season were interesting and will bloom in full force soon.

This competition was also the first try in Italy to have Advanced Novice teams to perform their Free Skating two times.
Advanced Novices added the magic
In Advanced Novices the teams presented different styles:

Hot Shivers choose a medley from Mary Poppins Returns, skating with a bit of "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious-ness".

Ladybirds transformed themselves in Wood Witches, potion making and invisibility were represented with much energy from this young team;

Team Ice on Fire portrayed a graceful program completing the division rankings.

Junior: The Lion King won the title
In the Junior category, Team Hot Shivers opted for a combination of movies and musical soundtracks: "The Greatest Showman" for a lively Short Program, and a medley from "The Lion King" soundtrack for a powerful and engaging Free Program. They won the event with a total score of 118.74 points, also reaching the minimum required TES.

Team Shining Blades chose a rhythmical kind of music for the Short Program, while for Free Program they preferred a more classic one.

Three Senior teams this season!
For the Senior category, this year there will be three teams competing to get access to the two spots gained by Hot Shivers performance in last year's World Championships.

Team Hot Shivers presented a serious and strong Short Program to the "Gladiator" soundtrack, and an elegant "Balloons & Squirrels" themed Free Program (on the music of Pixar movie "UP"), taking home the gold.

Team Ice on Fire had some issues with the Short Program "Flashdance", but made a comeback skating an emotional Free Program on the notes of "Rain in your black eyes" of Ezio Bosso earning the silver medal.

Team Shining Blades debuted in this category with a strong interpretation of their Short Program.

The Trento Cup was, therefore, a great opportunity to present for the first time the new programs and already to get an idea of the technical points that will remain to be improved in the coming weeks!
