Winterfest 2020: What happened on the third day?

After two days of exciting competition, synchro teams competing in Pre-Novice, Open and Adults divisions performed their programs in the CAA Centre located in Brampton, Ontario. Amazing performances highlighted the Winterfest competition. Let’s have a look back.

The final day of competition at Winterfest was off to an early start with the Pre Novice championship event. Ice Lightening from the Port Carling skating club claimed gold with 31.24 points. Hosts of the event, Gold Ice won silver in a close race (30.28). Bronze went to Platsville Pizzazz (26.72).

The Adult 3 category was next up on this final day of competition. It was an Ontario sweep with Ice Precise from Mississauga claiming gold (20.74). Team Unity earned their first medal of the day, a silver (19.52). Third place went to Whitby’s Ice Fyre team (19.46) in an extremely close race.

The Open championship event saw some excellent skating and difficult lifts as the teams work towards building for the Canadian Nationals in Calgary later this year. Nova claimed gold (153.63) and Nexxice was just behind with 153.09. Les Pirouettes from Laval had a strong showing to win bronze (136.11).

The excitement built as more Adult skating was underway. In Adult 2, it was a sweep for Tavistock’s Team Unity who claimed gold and silver in this event. Team Unity won with 44.22 points, and Team Unity Image took silver with 43.00 points. Les Pirouettes won their second medal of the day, scoring 40.46 to take bronze.

Adult 1 closed out the competition with new levels of skating and creative elements. Team Unity took their fourth medal of the day with 61.82. It was an extremely close race, with Ice Precise taking silver (60.64) and Nova taking bronze (60.22). 



The Winterfest competitions were hosted by Gold Ice and Skate Ontario.
