As the new On-Ice Director, Pam May will bring her international expertise to the Hockettes starting with the 2025–26 season.
A legendary figure in synchronized skating, Pam May will lead the Hockettes as their On-Ice Director starting in the 2025–26 season. With increased interest, tryouts remain open.
The Hockettes Synchronized Skating Teams, based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, are writing a new chapter in their storied history. Starting in the 2025–26 season, they officially welcome Pam May as their new On-Ice Director. Known as the world’s first synchronized skating team, the Hockettes are entrusting their legacy to one of the sport’s most accomplished and respected figures.
In response to growing interest, virtual and private in-person tryouts continue for all aspiring skaters. The program’s future looks brighter than ever.

Pam May brings decades of elite coaching experience and a deep passion for synchronized skating. Her leadership promises to blend tradition with innovation, preserving the Hockettes’ historic foundation while guiding its evolution.
Pam May was a founding coach of the Skyliners Senior team, leading them to multiple national podiums and World Championship appearances in 2018, 2019, and 2020. She returned to the world stage again in 2024 with Skyliners Senior.
As assistant coach for Skyliners Junior, Pam May guided the team to six National Championship titles. Her influence also extends to Skyliners Novice and Intermediate levels, where her teams captured several national medals and titles.
Before her time with the Skyliners, Pam was Director of Synchronized Skating and Head Coach of Team Braemar. There, she coached the Junior team to multiple National medals and represented the USA at the World Junior Championships. Her accolades include a bronze medal at the 2011 World Junior Challenge Cup, gold at the French Cup, and three Junior National Championships.
Pam May was also nominated three times for the Developmental Coach of the Year award (2011, 2012, 2017).

Due to high interest, tryouts remain open. Skaters can still submit virtual tryouts or schedule private, in-person tryout sessions.
Junior Team Weekend Practices:
The Hockettes Junior team practices will be held on the weekends—Saturdays and Sundays—making the schedule convenient for team members traveling from out of town. The team would love to connect with anyone interested and is happy to welcome prospective skaters to a trial session to experience a practice with the team.
