The Helsinki Rockettes react after winning the Worlds: "Feels like a dream"

Fourteen years after their last world title in 2011, the Helsinki Rockettes, representing Finland, claimed gold on Saturday, April 5. The team captains reflect on their remarkable victory in front of the home crowd in Helsinki.

How did it feel to win Worlds in front of your home crowd?
Eveliina Tikkinen and Petra Viitanen : "Feels like a dream. This week was truly a dream come true, and winning Worlds was just the cherry on top. The crowd was just so loud and supportive & we can’t thank you enough."

What are you most proud of in your programs or your season this year?
"We are the proudest of what kind of programs we were able to deliver in front of the home crowd at the Worlds. The best programs of the season in the right place."

What was the biggest challenge of the season - and the biggest joy?
"After Christmas, we had a bit of bad luck in a few competitions, so our biggest challenge was to overcome those experiences. The biggest joy was definitely the ending we managed to put out for this amazing and unforgettable season."

How would you describe your team spirit this year?
"A team full of laugh, joy, hard work, focus, motivation, support and love. Having fun but working hard!"

How did your coaches support you through the lead-up to Worlds?
"Our coaches believed in us the whole season. They worked hard on even the smallest details and pushed us to get the best possible version of the team on the ice at Worlds!"

The atmosphere at Worlds was extremely warm and loud. What would you like to say to your fans?
"We want to thank all of the fans who supported us during the competition. The atmosphere was amazing, and it really helped us to do everything on the ice. Your support was invaluable."

What’s next for you - any plans or goals for the summer and next season?
"Next up, we have a two-week break from training, and after that, we start a new season with a new team. Our goal is to build a good team spirit and train hard for the upcoming season."
