Here are the teams you'll see at the Senior Worlds this weekend!

Just a few hours remain before the ISU World Synchronized Championships 2024 starts. The competition, which will take place in Zagreb, Croatia, will feature 21 teams from 17 different countries. Let's take a look ahead of the kickoff!
Of course, when skating at the Worlds, every skater dreams of winning the title, the gold medal, which would mark the end of the 2023-2024 season forever.
Based on last year's results, here are the 5 teams to watch this weekend!
1. Les Suprêmes (CAN): the reigning world champions are defending the gold they've been coveting for two seasons now. However, after the great season they've just had and the world championship title secured by their "little sisters" just a month ago, their confidence is at an all-time high.
2. Helsinki Rockettes (FIN): the world's vice-champions are determined to finish the weekend on the top step of the podium. The very famous team had finished on the world podium many times in recent years but hasn't won gold since 2011 when the Worlds were also held in Helsinki.

3. Team Unique (FIN): the other Finnish team that won the bronze medal last year. The Finnish team has won the world gold once, back in 2013 in the United States.
4. Haydenettes (USA): after a season full of success, hopes are high for American fans to finally see their flag raised at the highest. The Boston Haydenettes are World Championships regulars and have won the bronze medal five times, the last being in 2016 in Hungary.
5. Skyliners (USA): the other American team will undoubtedly also be at the world's top. The team led by Joshua Babb and Pamela May hadn't skated at the Worlds since 2019 and are thus ready for their grand return!

The first team to watch is undoubtedly Team Nova Senior, representing Canada alongside the Supremes. Indeed, this Quebec team managed to qualify, thanks to excellent performances during the season. Coached by Dominic Barthe and Nadine Tougas, the team, therefore, promises very beautiful performances in Croatia! Definitely a team to watch!
As the 5th nation last year, Germany is therefore sending two teams this year: United Angels, a promising team that has made significant progress in recent seasons and comes from Stuttgart, and Team Berlin 1, which finished 8th last season at the Worlds.

Another team that amazed the audience in 2023 was Team Passion. The Hungarian team indeed finished 7th with a total of 195.12! Alongside them, Sweden's representatives, Team Inspire, 9th last year, also seem to be gradually making their way to the top world teams.
Two teams finished just 0.01 points apart in 2023: Jingu Ice Messengers from Japan and Hot Shivers skating for Italy! This season, the qualified Italian team is Team Ice on Fire, which finished in 13th place in 2022. Will the gap widen between these two teams?

The ranking battle
Indeed, based on the scores, some other teams know who their main contenders are. In 2023, for example, there were only two points difference between the French team Zoulous and Team Olympia from the Czech Republic.
Moreover, the difference in points between Starlight Elite from Switzerland and Team Ice Fire from Poland was only 0.03 points! Something to look forward to for the upcoming competition.
Team Fusion from Spain and Team Unity representing Australia would also have a great competition to compete in since they were only two points apart in 2023. However, no Spanish team will unfortunately participate in the Worlds this year.

The Netherlands with Team Ice United (19th in 2023), Great Britain with Icicles Senior (20th in 2023), without forgetting the new Turkish team Team Cosmos from Ankara and of course the local team Zagreb Snowflakes from Natasa Bahat which ranked 23rd last year.
The short programs will begin at 5:30 p.m. (local time) Friday evening, while the free programs are scheduled from 3:30 p.m. (local time) Saturday afternoon.
