What about the officials? ISU updates its list for the 2026/27 season!

No competition would be possible without judges and a technical panel! The International Skating Union (ISU) updated its official list of officials on October 1, 2026. Published in Communication No. 2816, the document identifies those listed for various roles at international competitions, including synchronized skating. For the first time, it also features a dedicated section for Synchro9.

Originally published in August, the communication lists Referees, Judges, Technical Controllers, Technical Specialists, and Data & Replay Operators for the 2026/27 season. It covers Single & Pair Skating, Ice Dance, and Synchronized Skating.

Officials are listed by country, discipline and role. The document also distinguishes between different levels of qualification, including ISU and International status. The lists were established following nominations submitted by ISU Member federations.

In synchronized skating, officials have different responsibilities. Technical Specialists identify performed elements and determine their levels of difficulty. Technical Controllers supervise these decisions, while Judges evaluate aspects including the quality of execution and program components.
Another interesting detail: Synchro9 has now its own dedicated section, separate from traditional synchronized skating. It lists Judges and Referees for the nine-skater format, which is entering its first season of international competitions.

However, this document does not announce the officials assigned to individual competitions. Instead, it provides a reference list for the season. The document and its updates are available on the official ISU website.
