The season resumes in Finland; here's what we know about the new themes
With October upon us, the Finlandia Trophy is just around the corner. The international competition that launches each year the synchro season, will take place on Saturday, October 8th in Finland. Senior teams will compete with their short programs only.

A first place that is worth more than gold... a qualification for the Worlds in Hamilton
The national championships in Finland ended on Sunday in Tampere. If Dream Edges, the new senior team, made its entry on the senior podium, the disappointment was total for Team Unique, which finished 4th and therefore did not qualify for the Worlds.

The long-awaited competition of the Finnish National Championships, which is the ultimate selection for the Senior Worlds, started on Saturday in Tampere, Finland. The Helsinki Rockettes lead the senior series after the short programs, and Team Fintastic dominates the junior competition.

With the resurgence of the pandemic, this is to be expected. Several of the world's top teams announced this week that they would be withdrawing from upcoming international competitions.

The competition was tough on Sunday night. The three gold medal teams finally came from the same club - Helsingin Taitoluisteluklubi - with the victories of the Helsinki Rockettes, Team Fintastic and Finettes.
Team Unique and Team Fintastic took the top spots in the short program competition
The second qualification competition of Finnish synchro teams is taking place this weekend in Espoo. On Saturday, Seniors and Juniors competed with their short programs. Team Unique in Seniors and Team Fintastic in Juniors are leading the competition after the first day. The differences between the points of the top teams are small, so the free program competition will be fascinating.

About 40 synchro teams competed this weekend in Helsinki, the Finnish capital. After a year of waiting due to the Covid pandemic, the competitive atmosphere was there, and the skaters were eager to skate in front of an audience again.
