Competing under COVID-19: a synchro skater's perspective

Last weekend French synchronized skaters went back to competition during the Masters. What were the rules and constraints of competing during the pandemic? A Senior athlete tells about her experience.

The season begins in France with the first non-virtual competition

Peter Gerome, a French skater evolving in Canada

Peter just turned twenty-six years old. He grew up in a city near Paris (France) and moved to Canada two years ago. While studying biology and geology at the University La Sorbonne in Paris and then, ecology and environment in Montréal, Peter skated and evolved in a sport where males are a few. Away from the ice rinks, this coach realized his dream

During the Covid-19 outbreak, many coaches and skaters had to deal with the fact that they wouldn’t be on the ice for a very long time. Olivier Chapuis, head coach from the synchronized skating teams in Compiegne, France, hasn’t stepped on the ice for over 10 months! Why? In September 2019, he started a trip around the world with his wife and son. He had to come back home early because of the coronavirus.

Senior skaters react to cancellation of Synchro Worlds

The cancellation of the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships 2020 in Lake Placid because of the coronavirus pandemic brought disappointment in the synchro community. Some skaters are still hoping that the event could be postponed.

Coronavirus: three teams cancel their participation in the WJSSC

The spread of the coronavirus around the world has an impact on the upcoming ISU events. The ISU World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships in Nottingham, planned on March 13-14 in Great Britain remain scheduled but three teams have decided that they will no longer participate in the competition.

Team Unique (FIN), double winner!

An exciting weekend took place in Italy where the 4th and last stage of the Challenger Series was organized during the Spring Cup. The Finnish Team Unique confirmed their lead in the senior competition, Junost (RUS) won the junior event. Recap of this crazy day, team after team.
