The Mixed Age category is becoming increasingly popular, and many countries now offer the possibility to compete in this division. But are there enough competitions and competitors? Three teams from three different countries give their opinion.
The Steel City Trophy Synchronised Skating Competion took place in Sheffield on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th of March at IceSheffield with 13 categories and 46 teams competing from across the UK.
There was a packed auditorium at the first British synchronised skating competition in two years at Alexandra Palace in London. With COVID regulations in force, organisers had their work cut out to check each skater’s lateral flow tests and temperatures along with every spectator, coach, chaperone, etc.
Monday marked the culmination of the inaugural Britannia Cup in Nottingham, England where 75 teams competed across 13 categories during the three day competition. Incorporating the British Championship, the British teams were fighting to gain or reclaim national titles and there was a general buzz of excitement in the stadium during the entire competition.
There was a packed auditorium at the first British synchronised skating competition of the season at Alexandra Palace in London. Thirty eight teams from across the country readied themselves for competition, adorning themselves in beautiful costumes with bling galore. This year is the first time the competition has been held at the historic venue of Alexandra Palace which was turned into a synchro haven for the day with team banners decorating the rink, and also played host to a brand new category.
Teams from all over Europe met on Saturday in Le Havre, France, for the International Mixed Age Trophy 2019. Thirteen teams representing seven different countries were involved.
Sunday saw the close of the weekend’s competition at the Trophy d’Ecosse in Dumphries Ice Bowl. Several synchro teams from around the world competed against each other and traveled back home with new medals.
Sunday was the final day of the 2019 British Championships held in the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham. With seniors and juniors performing their long programmes with only a few points between them after the short, competition was fierce to win the title of British Champion.
The first competition day of Winter Cup 2018 was already full of excitement for all people. For many teams this was the first time their new programs being put to test and judges’ feedbacks were received.
